My Best Friend's Grey and Blush Ombré Wedding

Well hello there friends, remember me? It's been a while! Yes, I know, I know, I kind of went MIA for a bit there - but for good reason ... we had a baby! On June 7, 2017 I gave birth to my beautiful son, Logan, and it's been a crazy ride ever since! I had visions of re-opening the shop not long after he was born - I'd work while he peacefully napped throughout the day. I'd work when he went to bed at night. Boy, was I delusional. Newborns have their own schedule (NONE!), and sleep is a fleeting thing. That being said, I kept the shop on vacation until I felt a little more well-adjusted to working with a baby!

During the first few months of having Logan, I was also busy creating some goodies for my best friend's wedding, which took place at the end of October! Between trying to stay afloat with a newborn and the wedding, I have been pretty busy these past few months! But I am happy to say that the shop has officially reopened! Some of the time frames on items have changed slightly, and I will only be taking select custom orders at a time, so please bear with me as I adjust to life as a working new momma!

Since my best friend (Brittany)'s wedding has come and gone (and was an absolutely PERFECT day - who gets 21 degree weather on October 21st?!), I'm now free to share what I've been up to over the past couple of months! Brittany and her now husband Brad were going for a super romantic, classic and elegant look for their big day. They landed on grey and blush (with accents of rose gold in their decor), so I played around with a few options, and they fell in love with the blush ombré (I was secretly hoping they would - it was my favourite too)! Below is the suite I created for them. It includes their invitations, escort cards and booklets that were used on their tables as guest books to read on their anniversaries! While I didn't end up doing their menus, I had sent them a prototype just in case they needed them. And their vows booklets I sent them as a gift (and one for their beautiful daughter Brooklyn too). I also made a few wooden signs, their card box decal and their seating chart (apologies for the terrible iPhone pics at the wedding - I'm hoping their photographers were able to snap some better quality ones!)

I must admit, this is my favourite suites I've created so far. Not just because it was for my best friend (though that is a BIG reason!), but the blush ombré is super timeless! And that font is super elegant. So I'll leave you for now to admire this beautiful suite. For any inquiries, please send me an email at alwaysbyamber (at) gmail (dot) com. Thank you for your patience over the past few months - I look forward to getting back to work!

DIY Nursery Room Art

* This post originally appeared on my old blog, Living YOUR Creative, but has been transferred to my new blog.

What you'll need:

  • Four 6x6 canvases
  • Cricut machine
  • Create a Critter cartridge (or if using the Explore, the monkey, hippo, elephant and lamb files)
  • Plantain Schoolbook cartridge
  • Scrapbook paper/cardstock
  • Spray adhesive
  • Grey paint
  • Sponge brush

How to make them:

First, paint your canvases (two coats, letting each coat dry in between).

In the meantime, cut your background squares with the Cricut, using the square file on the Plantain Schoolbook cartridge. (Outer square 5.5", inner square 5")

Using the Create a Critter cartridge, cut the following animals in the following sizes:

  • Lamb - 4"
  • Monkey - 4.5"
  • Hippo - 3.5"
  • Elephant - 3"

Using the same cartridge, cut some background images (clouds, plants, vines, etc...) I used a mix of these from the cartridge, not necessarily the ones that corresponded with the animals I chose)

Adhere everything together with spray adhesive and let dry! And voila! Your very own adorable nursery art! There are so many options for this - I have a few more ideas in store for future babies ;) Have a great week/weekend!
